Joy is an Adventure

Life is ALWAYS an adventure. Such a beautiful thing. Just look at a typical day. Reflecting back you see that every event is marked by series of choices, one after another. Each choice representing an infinite number of possibilities. Embarrassing maybe, but I remain fascinated that each day  can be lived out in so many different ways. My quest is to make the most of each one.

Then I ask, what makes a perfect day? Is it possible to somehow align all of your choices flawlessly together in a symphony that becomes “THE” Perfect Day?

I think yes! I live for those days everyday. Each choice an opportunity to find joy. To seek adventure. New friends, new faces. Old friends and with any luck, plenty of laughter.

Don’t get me wrong. Some days, weeks, months, even years are harder than others. And though I often strive to find joy in all I do. I am not immune to sorrow, to loneliness and despair. It is in the low’s I find I look on ahead to joy. I journey onward. Joy then becomes an adventure. Not a destination. And much like a good friend, it really never leaves your side. Even if you’ve been away far too long, you always seem to pick up right where you left off.

Joy comes from a beautiful place. I have found a deep joy in knowing my Creator. In reconciliation for a sin-filled, broken and separated creation that has been called back to His side through the most tragic of events. Through the choice Jesus made on the cross. In the face of a brutal tragedy. We find our hope. Hope births joy. Consider Proverbs 10:28, “The hope of the righteous brings joy.”

It is not without hope for better days, hope for the future that joy takes root. Deep in our hearts. There is nothing that truly compares, and so as you journey onward be joyful, always. And remember Psalm 16:11, “In His presence is fullness of joy.” In all you do find joy. Remembering that the hard times are merely stops along the way. Cling to hope, because Joy is truly an adventure!

Nehemiah 8:10 – Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Psalms 5:11-12 – But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.

Psalms 47:1 – Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!

Psalms 63:5-7 – My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.

Isaiah 12:6 – “… Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

Proverbs 10:28 – The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.

Romans 15:13 – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

1 Peter 1:8-9 – Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

2 John 1:12 – Though I have much to write to you, I would rather not use paper and ink. Instead I hope to come to you and talk face to face, so that our joy may bcomplete.
